Western Technical College provides students from Year 10 -Year 12 the opportunity to explore and acquire workplace skills through nationally recognised training described within an industry-developed training package or an accredited course. The achievement of any VET qualification delivered at Western Technical College, signifies that a student has demonstrated competency against the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the workplace.

Students can commence training at Western Technical College at an Introductory level, ie, whilst having the ability to gain 10 SACE credits at Stage 1.  Progression for the next year or level (depending on the chosen course) is a Certificate II or Certificate III or partial Certificate III, which attracts Stage 1 and Stage 2 SACE credits.

Experienced, accredited TAFESA trainers deliver the courses in simulated workspaces, where students can progress to achieve a career pathway outcome as an apprentice, trainee or gainfully employed.

Offering a diverse range of courses, Western Technical College should be considered by students and schools from all sectors as the Vocational Education & Training facility of choice.

This Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology AUR20520 is a Flexible Industry Pathway (FIP) and is partially funded by the South Australian Government. In this pre-apprenticeship qualification, you will begin your journey into the dynamic automotive industry. You'll build a strong foundation of essential knowledge and practical skills, preparing you for a rewarding career.

This course equips you with the abilities to identify, inspect, and service mechanical and electrical components found across a wide range of vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles, outdoor power equipment, bicycles, marine craft, and motorcycles.

Designed to give you a head start, this qualification ensures you develop the basic knowledge and hands-on expertise needed to launch your career in the diverse automotive sector.

This Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) UEE22020 is a Flexible Industry Pathway (FIP) and is partially funded by the South Australian Government. In this pre-apprenticeship course, you'll develop crucial electrical knowledge and practical skills, preparing you for a rewarding career in electrotechnology. You'll delve into the fundamental electrical theory and principles that underpin the industry.

To ensure your success, it's recommended you have above-basic mathematics skills (including Algebra and Transposition) and are studying a minimum of General Mathematics at your Home School. This will greatly assist with the often-complex application of physical laws and problem-solving required in electrical fundamentals.

This course is proudly endorsed and supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), offering support through the Doorways2Construction program.
