How to Enrol for VET Leaders
Guiding Students Through Flexible Industry Pathways (FIPs) at WTC
To assist you in enrolling students in a Flexible Industry Pathway (FIP) at Western Technical College (WTC), please use this guide for the two-part online registration process. It's highly recommended that all interested students complete both steps, even if they're not entirely sure about undertaking a VET FIP. There's no obligation to accept a FIP offer. Keep in mind, only registered students will be considered for a VET FIP.

The initial step involves the student completing and submitting an online Western Technical College Expression of Interest (EOI) Form. This can be done either at home or at school.
- Access the form via our website wtc.sa.edu.au under our Register drop-down menu.
- Essential Student Information: The EOI must include the student's Unique Student Identifier (USI) (find it at usi.gov.au/), their SACE number, and current medical information.
- Medical/Learning Plans: For any students with medical/learning plans, please ensure these are emailed to info@wtc.sa.edu.au prior to the start of Semester 1.
- Your Role: Once an EOI is received, it will be forwarded to your home school's VET Leader or nominated VET email inbox for processing.
- Important: The Expression of Interest link is only active during the official enrolment periods. If the link isn't live, it means the enrolment window is currently closed.
The second, critical step requires your school to submit a VET Referral through the Department of Innovation and Skills portal on the student's behalf.
- Portal Access: Access the VET Referral – Part A Subsidised School Registration and Consent Form via the following link:
Training Provider Centre | School Student Referral to VET Form
- Provide evidence of relevant preparatory VET pathway: The VET for School Students Approved Evidence for Completion of a Relevant VET Pathway Guide is designed to help schools. The guide specifies what evidence is accepted for each activity and its required format. This ensures evidence is collected by the student and/or school, recorded as described, and submitted with the School Student VET Referral form.

- What is VETRO? VETRO is an essential upfront assessment, induction, and orientation designed to ensure students enrol in a course that aligns with their needs. It also helps identify their personal and learning support requirements.
- Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN): The first part of VETRO is an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN), which determines a student’s course suitability, literacy, numeracy levels, and individual support needs.

Please be aware that applications received after the nominated application period are at risk of being declined. This can be due to course quotas already being met or insufficient timeframes to conduct the UAN. We strongly encourage you to facilitate student applications as early as possible!
